Doris Day and the Grizzly

by Brian Glover

Version 1

Just blew in from the windy Grizzly,
The windy Grizzly was mighty pretty
But it don't have what we fear, no sir-ee.
They had cliffs up to seven stories
But you didn't need any grappling irons
Cos they'd put lots of steps there, yes sir-ee

They had hills,
Lots of them,
Some were easy, and some were bloody steep.
Not much bog,
Just the one,
Though it was a lovely muddy one.
Then pig sties, what a novelty
Sad to mention, quite a smelly one.

Just blew in from the windy Grizzly
the windy Grizzly was mighty pretty
but there wasn't much beach there, no sir-ee
They've got sea out to the horizon
But never saw any s~a~i~l~borders
But a step from their beachfront
They've got em for free
They had waves up to seven stories
But we couldn't touch them
Cos we weren't on the beach much,
no sir-ee
They had tried hard, but they had failed hard
They had threatened, but not delivered
Cos there wasn't much beach there.
I'm telling you pal.
They've got more beach in little Charmouth
Than in this year's Grizzerley

Version 2

Just blew in from the windy Grizzly
This year's Grizzly was mighty windy
But it didn't have what we feared
No sir-ee

They had cliffs high as fifteen stories
Stairs to heaven, that didn't lead there
But on top of those cliffs, wow!
There was quite a breeze

Big men winced
Small men stopped
Lighter ladies went backwards instead
Got through that, then the bog
Not a long one, but still quite deep
Muddy knees were quite the n~o~r~m
One short runner was never seen again
Then the crux, a pig farm
Shoes will never smell as sweet again

Just blew in from the windy Grizzly
This year's Grizzly was mighty windy
but there wasn't much beach in't
No sir-ee

They had waves up to seven stories
never saw any s-a-i-l-b-o-r-d-e-r-s
but a float from their beachfront
they've got 'em for free

Just blew in from the windy Grizzly
This year's Grizzly was mighty windy
but there wasn't much beach in't
But maybe next year!
We'll get more bog and lots of sea air
And a long run on the beach

I'm telling you pal
They've got more beach in half of Charmouth
Than the whole of this Grizzly.
