AVR duo star in Swansea

AVR’s Matt Hewer made his England Masters debut at the Swansea Half-Marathon on Sunday in a race which saw the England Masters team take on teams from Wales and the Armed Forces. He was joined at the event by AVR Debbie Whiston, representing the Armed Forces.  Both had qualified for selection at earlier events of the same distance.

The flat, fast 13.1 miles starts at the iconic Swansea Arena then heads out of the city through the university campus before heading back via the historic Brangwyn Hall and Castle ruins before finishing along the promenade.

The high-quality race was won by Omar Ahmed in 1:03.14 and Natasha Wilson in 1:12.13 with more than 5000 finishers.  Despite a niggle, Matt finished in 1:21.27, 137th and 20th M45. Debbie was an excellent eighth F45 finishing in 1:28.42.
