The Grizfest

Information

The Grizfest consists of a community activity for children in Seaton town with a 4 kilometre running race (Junior Grizzly) for ages 11 to 15 years old, a 2 kilometre race (Junior Cub)for over 8s, and a 2-kilometre “Fun Run” open to all ages.

The Grizfest traditionally takes place on the Saturday of the Grizzly weekend and in common with the Grizzly is a non-profit event; profits are donated to mainly, local charities. This is an afternoon event, which is open to up to 400 runners wishing to take part in either event.

It is estimated that approximately 300 competitors will run the course on the Saturday. In addition another 300 spectators are expected to watch the runners from key points in Seaton.

Medical support in the form of two paramedics is provided at the start/finish line on the Esplanade.

The start and finish area on the Esplanade, will be completely closed to traffic during the whole race.

The Course

All three races start and finish on the Esplanade, although most of the running surfaces are tarmac roads, two short sections of the pebble beach are used and an uneven surface through the yacht club. It is recommended runners wear appropriate footwear and should be prepared for cold and/or wet weather.
